How SSN and BSN Numbers Are Generated
Dutch BSN (Burgerservicenummer)
The BSN is a 9-digit citizen identification number used in the Netherlands. It must pass the "elfproef" (eleven-test): multiply each digit by a descending weight from 9 to 2 (for the first 8 digits) and the 9th digit by -1. The result must be divisible by 11. All generated BSNs pass this validation.
US SSN (Social Security Number)
The SSN is a 9-digit number in the format XXX-XX-XXXX. The area number (first 3 digits) is between 001 and 899, excluding 666. The group number (middle 2) and serial number (last 4) are random. Generated SSNs follow the standard format but are not real assigned numbers.
